Worst Week (2008)

I’ll never understand why good series don’t make it pass the first or second season. We are flooded with all kinds of idiotic shows and series and, when we actually get something decent to watch, it’s got only 16 episodes. There’s a God of TV shows and he’s really mocking at us, let me tell you.

So what’s with this “Worst Week” series I regret not seeing in 1000 episodes? Well, it’s the best TV comedy I have seen in YEARS. If there was a 10 out of 5 stars rating, I’d give it 15.

We have an “accident prone” guy. He’s a magazine editor, Sam Briggs is the name (Kyle Bornheimer), who’s ready to get married to his girlfriend, Melanie (Erinn Hayes), who’s beautiful and a bit pregnant too. All is fine, but she comes from a very conservative family (the 2 characters being played by Nancy Lenehan and an absolutely genial Kurtwood Smith).

Her mother is not such a big issue, she’s the normal conservative prude mom, but her father is like the “devil” for Sam. Still, wanting to make an excellent impression, he does all he can to win them over.

Unfortunately he’s in trouble most of the time and does more damage than good.

Even if the idea is not new (the comedy is based on the British hit “The Worst Week of My Life”), each and every episode is just hilarious. Let’s say it’s not a good idea to eat/drink while watching, not to mention it’s advisable to visit the “loo” before, so no accidents happen.

I cannot recommend this enough. Have watched it 2 times already and it’s been just great.
